Used Animoto for a client project, honest take from someone who was skeptical
Client needed a series of short promo videos for their real estate listings. They had no budget for a proper editor and I wanted to find something I could hand off to them afterward so they weren't coming back to me every time they listed a new property.
Tried Animoto. Here's the actual breakdown:
What worked: The template library is genuinely good. There are categories specifically for real estate which saved a ton of time. Brand kits let you lock in their logo, colors and fonts so everything stays consistent without them having to think about it. The AI script generator is a Chrome-only thing but it's actually useful, give it a topic and a brief description and it spits out a full script to work from.
What didn't: There's no Android app. The client was Android. That was annoying. Also the iOS apps and the desktop version don't sync properly which feels like an oversight in 2025.
Pricing reality: Free plan puts a watermark on everything and caps you at 720p. The Basic plan at $9/month removes that and gives you 1080p. Professional at $19/month adds over a million stock assets and brand kits. Annual billing halves those prices roughly.
For solo creators and small businesses who just need clean, consistent social video without hiring someone, it does the job. It's not going to replace proper editing software if you need real control, but that's not really the point of it.
