Tactiq transcribes without putting a bot in the meeting and that is why I use it over alternatives
Simple post about a specific feature that is the main reason I chose Tactiq over other transcription tools.
The Privacy-First Design in Tactiq means transcription happens through the Chrome extension without requiring a bot to join the call as a participant. No visible AI notetaker in the participant list. No notification to other attendees that the meeting is being recorded by an automated participant. The extension captures the audio locally from your browser.
For calls where a visible AI bot would change the dynamics or where participants might be uncomfortable with it, this is the approach that works. Sensitive client conversations, early-stage negotiations, interviews where you want the person to speak freely, calls with people who are generally skeptical of AI tools in the room. In all of those contexts having a bot announce itself in the participant list creates friction I do not want.
The YouTube Transcription is a secondary feature I use regularly. I watch a lot of YouTube content for research and being able to extract and summarize a video transcript from any YouTube video without leaving the browser saves a step compared to other approaches.
The privacy-first transcript storage that keeps transcriptions local and only shares them when you actively choose to is the governance feature that matters alongside the no-bot capture approach.
Speaker Identification, AI summaries and exports to Notion and Slack work the same way as other transcription tools. The distinction is the capture method.
