Being considered overkill for individual coders working on smaller apps is the honest limitation that defines the evaluation audience accurately. A developer working on a personal project or a small team application gets most of the value they need from GitHub Copilot or Cursor. Overkill for individual coders on small applications being the honest limitation is the framing that stops engineers evaluating the wrong tool for the wrong problem. GitHub Copilot or Cursor for individual developer productivity on bounded projects. Cody for teams where the hard problems are architectural and cross-repository. Clear segmentation, both tools earning their place at different scales.

At three million lines of code spread across fourteen repositories the difference between file-scoped and whole-codebase context is the difference between useful suggestions and suggestions that are locally correct but architecturally inconsistent with the rest of the system.
