Wombo Dream as a beginner app still has no better entry point for mobile AI art generation
Download, open, type a prompt, see what happens. The friction from "I want to try AI image generation" to "I have generated my first AI image" is lower with Wombo Dream than with any other tool I am aware of. No account creation on first open, no settings to configure, no credit system to understand before generating your first image.
The trade-off is obvious: the output ceiling is lower than Midjourney or DALL-E 3 and the creative controls are simpler. For someone in the learning phase where the goal is understanding what AI image generation is rather than producing production-quality work, the ceiling does not matter. The friction reduction does.
The app being on both iOS and Android with no desktop requirement means the barrier is truly just downloading an app. For educators introducing students to AI creative tools or for curious non-technical users who want to explore the concept, Wombo Dream is still the right starting point.
What was your first AI image generation tool and did starting with something simple or something powerful affect how you ended up learning the space?
