I keep citing papers that later turn out to be disputed, is scite.ai the fix?

I’m doing more serious writing/research and I’m sick of the same problem: I cite a paper because it’s famous / highly cited… then later I discover it’s controversial, contradicted, or heavily qualified by newer work.

I’m looking at scite.ai because it shows citation statements + labels like supporting/contrasting/mentioning, so you can sanity-check whether a claim is being upheld or debated.

Questions for scite users:

- Does it meaningfully reduce “bad citations” in your reference list?

- Do you rely on it for screening sources, or just as a second-pass check?

- Is it good across disciplines, or only strong in certain fields?

- Any tips for using the extension with Google Scholar / PubMed style browsing?
