Real-time whale alerts in Arkham changed how I monitor positions

The feature that made Arkham go from "interesting tool" to "part of my daily routine" was the real-time alert system.

The labeling system is what makes alerts actually useful. Getting notified that "a large unknown wallet moved X" is noise. Getting notified that "a wallet linked to a specific known fund deposited significant ETH to Binance" is a signal worth acting on.

I have been using it to track a small list of historically accurate smart money wallets rather than trying to monitor everything. Narrow and focused has worked better for me than trying to catch every large movement.

Would you set up narrow specific alerts or try to monitor a broader range of activity? Curious how other people have structured their alert setups.

The narrow focused alert setup versus trying to monitor everything is exactly the right lesson. I made the mistake early on of setting up too many alerts across too many wallets and the result was notification fatigue where I stopped paying attention to any of them. Picking five to ten historically accurate wallets and monitoring those closely gives you actionable signal rather than constant noise. How do you identify which wallets are worth following in the first place?

For anyone building an alert-based monitoring system: the mobile notification reliability across different phone operating systems and background app handling is worth testing before you depend on it for time-sensitive signals. iOS and Android handle background notification delivery differently and some exchanges to Arkham alert chains have more latency than the "real-time" description suggests. Testing your full alert delivery chain during low-stakes conditions before relying on it for importan...

The signal versus noise calibration for whale alerts is worth building systematically rather than through pure trial and error. One approach: for each wallet you track, log every alert received and the subsequent price action over the next 24 and 72 hours for the relevant asset. After three months you will have empirical data on which wallets in your tracking list have historically predictive movement patterns and which generate alerts that do not precede meaningful price action.
