Otter.ai has a feature that keeps the AI bot out of your meeting participant list and I use it constantly

I use an AI meeting assistant for every call I take. The transcription and summary saves me real time and I stopped taking manual notes months ago. But there is one specific feature in Otter.ai that I have not seen mentioned enough and it changed how I use the tool with certain clients.

The Botless Recording mode lets you record and transcribe a meeting in the background from your desktop without an AI bot appearing in the participant list. For calls where a visible AI notetaker would change the dynamic or make someone uncomfortable it is the difference between using the tool and not using it. The standard OtterPilot functionality connects to your calendar and joins meetings automatically, recording and transcribing without any manual steps. The structured summaries it generates cover a high-level overview, a detailed outline and a checkbox list of action items. That structured breakdown is more useful than a raw transcript for most follow-up purposes.

The interactive transcript is the feature I use most for review. Every word is timestamped and clicking any word in the transcript jumps the audio to that exact moment. When I want to verify something specific or hear the exact tone of a particular exchange I can find it in seconds rather than scrubbing through a recording.

Otter AI Chat lets you ask questions about past meetings or generate follow-up emails based on the transcript content. For recurring meetings with the same client I can ask what we agreed on in the last call without re-reading the whole transcript.
