WhatAI Papercup by RWS Forum Discussions
Papercup is now RWS's AI dubbing orchestration layer for television, film, streaming, and digital content. RWS acquired the intellectual property behind Papercup in June 2025, and the former Papercup website now redirects to RWS's AI dubbing and voiceover service. It should be evaluated as a managed enterprise localisation solution rather than a free self-serve video tool. The current service combines AI voice synthesis with human translation, cultural adaptation, voice selection, quality control, audio engineering, and platform-ready delivery. RWS says Papercup's cross-lingual prosody transfer technology is designed to preserve the original speaker's tone, pace, and emotional nuance. Teams can use transcript and translation editing to refine timing, audio accuracy, synchronisation, and lip sync where required. Voice cloning is available only in suitable cases with explicit permission from the talent. RWS positions the platform as an orchestration layer that integrates into existing media environments and centrally manages multilingual content across complex distribution workflows. Customers can choose a localisation approach based on the title, audience, budget, time, creative standard, and risk: premium human dubbing, AI-enabled voiceover with human review, phrase-sync voiceover, narration, subtitling, audio description, or a hybrid model. Pricing is not public and requires an enterprise discussion, content assessment, and custom quote.
