Research is where AI is most useful and most dangerous at the same time. It compresses days of reading into hours, and it will invent a citation with the same confidence it reports a real one.
Threads here cover literature search and discovery tools, paper summarisation quality on dense material, synthesis across many sources, note and knowledge base tools that let you query your own reading, and the verification step that has to sit between output and use.
That last point is the recurring theme. Fabricated citations remain common enough that every workflow discussed here includes a checking stage, and members are specific about how they do it. Tools that link claims back to source text are consistently preferred over ones that summarise without provenance.
Both academic and applied research questions fit here. See Models & Research if your interest is in the models themselves rather than using them, and Analytics for quantitative work.
