Finally tried Adobe Firefly end-to-end, here's what actually surprised me

So I've been putting off diving into Firefly properly for months because I assumed it was just "Photoshop but with AI slapped on top." Spent a solid afternoon going through a proper tutorial last week and honestly had to eat my words a bit.

The image generation side is fine, nothing groundbreaking if you've used Midjourney or anything similar. But what got me was the video generation. You can set a first frame and a last frame and have it generate the transition between them. I've been looking for something like that for client work and I did not expect to find it here.

The other thing worth knowing: the bulk editing suite can process up to 1,000 images at once for stuff like background removal, cropping, and color grading. If you're doing product photography at any scale that's actually a big deal.

Audio is there too, text to speech, music from mood prompts, even sound effect generation from text. It's not going to replace dedicated audio tools but it's surprisingly usable for rough cuts.

The deep integration with Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Express is what makes it stick if you're already in that ecosystem. Everything moves between apps without the usual export headache.

The Boards feature is what got me too. I'd been ignoring it for months assuming it was just a fancy mood board tool. The Remix generation is genuinely different from anything I'd seen in other tools. Did you end up using the 3D model conversion at all? I tried it once and the results were rough but I could see the potential.

The bulk editing suite handling 1,000 images simultaneously being the operational feature that changes the economics of high-volume image work is worth naming for anyone doing catalogue or e-commerce work. The per-image time saving on background removal, cropping and colour grading multiplied across a thousand-image batch is not incremental efficiency. It is the difference between a day of editing and an hour of editing. For any business where image volume is high and each image receives the sam...

The text effect generation for logos and headings being specifically well-suited to social media content that needs typographic impact without a designer is the creative feature worth trying before relying on external typography tools. Firefly's text effects produce results that previously required a skilled type designer or a significant amount of manual Photoshop work. For content teams that need impactful text treatments regularly without dedicated design resources, the quality-to-effort rati...

The video generation with first and last frame control is the feature I keep coming back to. Most AI video tools give you one continuous clip and you either use it or regenerate. Being able to define start and end states and having the model fill the transition gives you a fundamentally different kind of creative control. For client work where you have a specific compositional requirement at both ends of a shot, that constraint-based generation is genuinely more useful than open-ended generation...
