Made a client highlight video in Animoto in 45 minutes, client cried, here is what I did
Quick backstory: I photograph weddings as a side business and I have been looking for a way to offer short video highlights without learning proper video editing software. Tried Animoto on a whim after a client asked and I want to share what the experience was actually like.
The template library has a wedding category with genuinely nice options that already have the pacing and music style you want for that kind of content. I dropped in about 40 photos, spent maybe fifteen minutes adjusting which ones went where, changed the text overlays for the couple's names and date, tweaked the accent color to match their wedding palette and hit export.
The things I want to flag for anyone doing similar work: the transition styles matter more than you think. The Brush and Flare transitions have a different emotional quality than the plain cuts and for sentimental content the softer ones are worth choosing deliberately. The music library is sorted by mood which made finding something appropriate faster than scrolling through a generic list.
Text animation styles are customizable per slide. I used Fade for the more emotional moments and Jump Cut for the fun reception photos and that rhythm actually worked well.
The sharing options let me send a direct link rather than a file which the client could watch on her phone immediately. That is how she ended up watching it in the car and calling me.
