The Best AI for Marketers in 2026

Our marketers guide is live, and this thread focuses on one of the most practical ways to improve AI-assisted marketing: give the tool enough brand context to produce something more specific than a generic first draft.

Full guide: /best/ai/for/marketers

WhatAI did not run a quarter-long controlled test with three marketers, so this discussion should not present first-party results from such an experiment.

A useful brand-context kit can include approved high-performing content, a current voice guide, real customer language from appropriately handled research or feedback, positioning, product facts, prohibited claims and examples of what the brand should not sound like.

Then test the effect yourself. Give the same representative task to the tool before and after supplying the approved context. Measure editing time, factual corrections, voice corrections, compliance issues and whether the final output meets the team's publishing standard.

Brand context also needs maintenance. Products, customers, offers and positioning change, so review the material periodically rather than treating setup as permanent.

For the thread: what context has made the biggest difference to your AI-assisted marketing, and how are you measuring whether it actually reduces editing work?

AI is accelerating the 'enshittification' of the marketing funnel (https://pluralistic.net/2023/01/21/potemkin-ai/). Because the marginal cost of creating a landing page, an email sequence, and an ad creative is now zero, marketers are flooding the zone with hyper-personalized garbage. Consumers are responding by deploying their own AI tools to filter out the noise. It's a zero-sum arms race of machines talking to machines. Is AI marketing just creating an arms race of machines spamming other ma...

The most dangerous thing AI has done to marketing is make it easier to produce mediocre content at scale. The best marketing has always been about having a differentiated point of view and the courage to say something that not everyone agrees with (https://hbr.org/2024/01/the-case-for-brave-marketing). AI is constitutionally incapable of controversy because it is trained to be agreeable. It produces safe, consensus-driven copy by design. Is AI marketing content fundamentally too safe and agreeab...

AI marketing tools are excellent at 'direct response' (getting a click today) but terrible at 'brand building' (creating long-term emotional resonance) (https://ipa.co.uk/knowledge/publications-reports/the-long-and-the-short-of-it). Because AI optimizes for immediate metrics like CTR, it naturally gravitates toward clickbait, urgency, and aggressive sales copy. Over time, this erodes the premium positioning of the brand. Does optimizing AI for immediate clicks erode long-term brand equity?

As a buyer, I now use an AI email screener that automatically deletes any cold outreach that looks AI-generated. If it doesn't have a typo or a highly specific human reference, I never see it.

Which proves the point. The only way to cut through the AI noise is to be unmistakably, inefficiently human.

Direct response and brand building are different disciplines. You can win the click and lose the brand.

Exactly. You traded long-term equity for short-term revenue. AI is a dangerous tool if you don't constrain its optimization goals.

For brand campaigns, you might be right. For direct response, AI copy consistently outperforms human copy in A/B tests because it is optimized for clarity and conversion, not brand personality.
