ℹ️ WhatAI Field Note

  • Transcription accuracy is highest with clear audio and native English speakers; heavy accents or poor audio quality can lead to more errors that require manual correction.
  • Action item detection works well for explicit statements but may miss subtle commitments — reviewing the summary is still recommended before assigning tasks.

Fireflies live transcription during meetings changed the tool from a notes archive to an in-meeting assistant

I had been using Fireflies as a post-meeting tool. The April 2026 update video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZuFXgNfZmI showed the live capabilities and I have been using it differently since. Ask Fred Live lets you interact with the AI assistant during the meeting rather than only after it. Being in a meeting and asking "what was the specific number Sarah mentioned ten minutes ago" without interrupting the flow to search back through your notes is the use case that made me understand why live interaction matters. The live transcription itself being available in real time rather than generated after the recording is the foundation. The Smart Chaptering identifying key topics as they are discussed rather than retrospectively is the meeting structure that emerges during the call rather than being applied to it afterward. Sentiment Analysis tracking participant moods in real-time is the feature I am most uncertain about in practice. The application to sales calls and performance coaching is clear in theory. Whether the accuracy is reliable enough to act on in a live context is the question worth testing before building a workflow around it. The CRM workflow automation pushing meeting data directly to Salesforce or HubSpot after calls is the operational integration that determines whether Fireflies becomes infrastructure or remains a standalone tool. Has anyone tested the live Ask Fred feature during a complex technical meeting? Curious whether the accuracy holds up when the conversation is dense with jargon.

Fireflies Voice Agents handling screening calls and discovery calls is a bigger capability jump than I expected

The March 2026 Fireflies update video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzdC3yDFqsM focuses on Voice Agents and the application is more commercially significant than the feature name suggests. A Voice Agent that handles repetitive screening interviews and discovery calls with customisable questions and a knowledge base is not just a time saving. It is a scale change. The calls that previously required a human to be present and engaged for every instance, regardless of how repetitive the content, can now be handled autonomously with the outcomes pushed directly to CRM and Slack. The multi-language support for Voice Agents is the international sales application that makes the capability relevant beyond English-first organisations. A screening call workflow that operates in the prospect's language without requiring a bilingual human available at their timezone is a different operational capability. The Email AI responding to emails using historical context is the natural companion to the call automation. Outreach and response to outreach handled by the same AI layer that manages calls and meeting notes creates a coherent context across the full customer interaction history. The Slack AI being updated alongside these features suggests the platform is building toward a full communication automation layer rather than individual standalone features. For sales teams specifically: has anyone deployed the Voice Agents for actual screening calls and what was the response from candidates or prospects about the AI interaction?

Fireflies.ai handles meeting transcription across every platform and the search feature is underrated

My team uses a mix of Zoom, Google Meet and the occasional Teams call depending on who the client is. Finding a meeting assistant that works consistently across all three without separate setup for each was the first problem Fireflies.ai solved for me. The basics work well. It joins calls automatically based on your calendar, records, transcribes and generates a summary with highlights and action items pulled out. Integration with Google and Apple calendars means setup is genuinely once and done. The thing that surprised me after using it for a few months is the Global Search. You can search across every transcript you have ever saved for a specific keyword, topic or decision. So if I need to find the conversation where we agreed on a specific deliverable from three months ago I can search for it rather than scrubbing through recordings. For ongoing client relationships that builds into something really valuable over time. The Ask Fred feature lets you query a specific transcript conversationally after the meeting, things like "what were the open questions" or "summarize the decisions" without reading the whole thing. One honest limitation: transcription accuracy drops noticeably if audio quality is poor or there is background noise. Still usable but worth a quick review before sending notes to a client. If you want to see how the search and Ask Fred features actually work before signing up, this covers it well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyoEr1SOOko

The Topic Tracker in Fireflies.ai tells me when competitors are mentioned in my team's calls without me listening to any of them

I manage a sales team of eight people. I cannot listen to every call and I should not have to. What I need is visibility into patterns, specific topics that come up across calls, without manual reporting from my reps. The Topic Tracker in Fireflies.ai is the feature that gave me that. You define keywords, competitor names, pricing objections, specific product features, compliance topics, anything you want to monitor, and it automatically tags every instance of those words across all recorded meetings. I get a view of how often each topic appeared, which calls it came up in, and the exact context. When a competitor name I was not aware of started appearing frequently in tagged transcripts I caught it within a week. Without Topic Tracker I would have found out when someone mentioned it in a team meeting, weeks later. The Conversation Intelligence analytics layer adds talk-time ratios and sentiment analysis across the team's calls. When a rep's sentiment scores dip or their talk-time ratio is significantly off, those are signals worth investigating rather than metrics I am generating from gut feel. Meeting Playlists let me compile clips from different calls around a specific theme for training purposes. Rather than telling a new rep "here is how we handle this objection," I can show them five real examples from actual calls, which is a different kind of teaching. The automated workflow pushing summaries to Slack and the CRM means reps are not spending time on call logging after every conversation. The Topic Tracker and Conversation Intelligence features are demonstrated at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ib5fTXXDRNE and the keyword monitoring specifically is what made this the tool I actually wanted rather than just another meeting recorder.

Tactiq vs Otter vs Fireflies vs Fathom, what’s actually best for meeting notes in 2026?

I’m trying to pick one meeting-notes tool and I don’t want to test 10 of them. If you’ve tried **Tactiq** *and* at least one other (Otter / Fireflies / Fathom / Notion AI etc.): - which one gave the best summaries? - which one captured action items best? - which one was least annoying day-to-day? - what made you switch? Hopfully someone here has tried a couple or will share there experience?
