Transcription is one of the few AI categories where the tools are boring, mature and quietly excellent, which makes the differences between them subtle and worth discussing carefully.
Accuracy is the obvious axis, but it fragments quickly under real conditions. Accented speech, industry jargon, crosstalk, poor microphones and multiple speakers all degrade output differently across tools. A product that scores well on clean audio can fall apart on a four-person video call.
Members here compare on the things that actually cost time. Speaker separation quality, how much editing a raw transcript needs before it is usable, summary and action item extraction, integration with calendar and meeting tools, and how each product handles the fact that it is now recording your conversations.
That last point deserves more attention than it usually gets. Retention policies, training data use and participant consent vary widely, and matter more in a meeting tool than almost anywhere else. See also Audio & Voice for generation rather than capture.
