The Marketplace lets you rent or buy strategies built by other traders rather than building everything from scratch. For someone new to bot trading the ability to start with a tested strategy is significant.

What to evaluate when choosing a Marketplace strategy:

- Historical performance across different market conditions, not just bull runs

- The author track record across multiple strategies

- Whether the parameters can be adjusted for your risk tolerance

- Community reviews from actual users

The copy trading feature alongside Marketplace strategies is useful for seeing how experienced operators run similar setups in real time.

Do you build your own Cryptohopper strategies or rely on Marketplace strategies from other traders?

The cross-market-condition performance history is the screening criteria I'd emphasize above everything else. A strategy with a great bull market track record tells you almost nothing useful. The ones worth paying attention to are strategies that have been running through multiple different market conditions including flat and declining periods. The community reviews from other renters are also more useful than the author's own performance claims since they represent independent validation.

One risk with Marketplace strategies that does not get discussed enough: as a strategy gains popularity and more users run it simultaneously, the market impact of those simultaneous trades can erode the edge the strategy originally demonstrated. A strategy that worked when 50 people were running it may work less well when 5,000 people are running it because they are all entering and exiting the same positions at the same signals. Strategy popularity is a risk factor, not just a quality signal.

The recency filter for reviews is exactly right and I would add a market condition filter on top of that. Reviews from the past month in a bull market tell you how the strategy performs in bull conditions. If the current market is ranging or bearish, those reviews are irrelevant to your situation. Specifically searching for reviews that describe strategy performance in conditions similar to the current environment is the most practically useful filtering approach.

The author's track record across multiple strategies is the signal worth checking before renting any individual strategy. A single strategy with a good performance record could be data mining. An author with five or six strategies that have all performed reasonably well across different market conditions is providing evidence of systematic understanding rather than a lucky single result. The Marketplace lets you see all of an author's strategies which makes this check easy to do.
