The automated DeFi position management use case is the one that makes this practically interesting beyond the theoretical architecture discussion. An agent that monitors collateral ratios, rebalances positions across chains based on yield conditions and executes liquidation protection without human intervention is solving a problem that active DeFi users spend real time on today. The trust model matters because the agent is managing real capital.

The TEE component is the piece that makes the trust model work for me. An AI agent making financial decisions needs to be auditable in a way that "trust me it's running correctly on our servers" doesn't satisfy. Trusted Execution Environments provide hardware-level attestation that the code running inside is what it claims to be. Something worth noting for builders evaluating this architecture: the TEE plus Chain Signatures combination adds latency relative to a simpler on-chain only design. For use cases where execution speed matters significantly, like MEV strategies or fast-response liquidations, the additional hops in the trust chain may create timing disadvantages. For slower strategic operations the latency is likely acceptable.

The TEE provider decentralisation question you raised is genuinely important and underexplored in most NEAR Chain Agent coverage. If the trusted execution environments are operated by a small number of hardware providers with relationships to each other, the security guarantee degrades significantly.
