The three separate developer communities being harder to consolidate than three token pools is the honest challenge you have identified. Technical communities have culture, tooling preferences, documentation standards and community governance norms that do not merge cleanly. Something worth researching before drawing conclusions about the merger's strategic rationale: which of the three original projects had the most developer activity in the twelve months before the merger announcement? The project with the strongest development momentum arguably had the most to give up by merging and the clearest signal about what the combined entity's culture and technical direction might look like.

The fragmentation argument applies to more than just investor attention. Three separate grants programs, three separate hackathons, three separate conference presences, three separate developer relations teams. The operational efficiency gains from consolidating those functions are real and compound over time. The unified ASI entity should be able to deploy equivalent resources more effectively than three separate organisations competing for the same developer mindshare.

The liquidity fragmentation argument is the one I hadn't fully considered before reading posts like this. Three projects competing for attention in a niche category means each one gets less liquidity, less developer mindshare and less institutional interest than a single unified entity would. The merger addresses a coordination problem that was limiting all three projects regardless of their individual technical merit.
